We had come a long way since the 90s when we had blackboards and chalks. Over a decade, we kept evolving our teaching practices and methods. We switched to whiteboards, dry-wipe markers, and overhead projectors, and soon after, interactive whiteboards found their places in gclassrooms.

It is expected that the way we teach will completely change by 2050, and undoubtedly the advancement in technology will result in this significant change. The way we access information will change in the coming years.

Though books will be in their place, students will be encouraged to shift to online platforms to access information about a topic. The focus will be shifted to providing a personalized learning experience.

More interactive methods of learning will be introduced. To prepare students for tough and competitive workplaces, education aims to inculcate problem-solving abilities. In brief, traditional lecture-based teaching will no longer exist.

Here is how the future of education will be in 2050:

The classroom environment

Teachers would not need to maintain an attendance register as the biometric machine will keep the data of students’ presence and absence at the time of checking in. Teachers would collate the data automatically to track the attendance of each student, so there is no hustle and bustle.

With traditional classrooms, you are to grapple with blinds to prevent the glare from bouncing off the blackboard or whiteboard, but in coming years, classrooms will have windows with smart glass known to adjust the brightness to protect students’ eyes and screens.

As the summer temperature continues to rise, 2050 will likely be warmer and sultry, so air conditioners will be necessary. However, they will likely be more efficient. As tech experts try to adhere to environmental safety guidelines, air conditioners will probably have inbuilt air purifiers to filter toxins and dust from the air.

The new equipment will be introduced to classrooms to make teaching easier and more engaging. 3D printers will take the place of ordinary printers. It will make it easier for teachers to explain difficult concepts to students that are impossible to explain otherwise.

Augmented reality

Artificial intelligence will likely become very popular by 2050 in the education world. The AI-driven learning systems will promote a personalized learning experience. Traditional education system lacks personalisation.

Each student has a different learning capacity. Despite tracking the performance of each student, it is hard for teachers to get to the bottom of the cause of poor results in examinations. Problems on the surface can be addressed with traditional teaching methods, but problems deep down go unnoticed.

Here comes artificial intelligence. It can take into account the learning style of each student by tracking their performance and then provide real-time adaptive learning methods. This technology will help students learn according to their pace.

AI will not just help track the performance of students in the classroom, but it will also help predict future performance. This will help teachers understand which student needs guidance on which topic. Teachers would be able to focus on the progress of each student in the class.

In addition to personalized learning, AI will also provide feedback so students can know the areas of improvement. By knowing their strengths and weaknesses, students can make a learning strategy based on that.

AI in classrooms will enable teachers to prepare students based on their strengths and weaknesses. Though this is not new, AI will make it way easier. Teaching and learning will both become interesting.

Interactive whiteboards will be integrated with augmented reality to allow teachers to explain to students the anatomy of the human brain, the size of Mars, chemical compounds, and the like. It will become much easier for teachers to establish comparisons and demonstrate the how, the why, and the what using virtual objects. This kind of technology will be especially useful for STEM subjects.

Artificial intelligence will make it easier for teachers to focus on practical aspects rather than theoretical ones. This will make learning more engaging. Using augmented reality in classrooms to teach students will help teachers and students.

Remote learning

Nobody was familiar with remote learning until the pandemic. When the world’s population was put under house arrest to contain social interaction, remote learning emerged, and then it went mainstream.

In 2050, most of the population is expected to have the internet. If this happens, classrooms will likely be connected to virtual networks to allow external pupils to study along with their counterparts. Most of the students pursue higher degree courses from foreign universities, but they require in-class lectures.

In the coming years, it will be easier for students to enroll in such courses without going over there. They could be a part of a live class session at your home’s comfort. In other words, it will be possible to attend regular classes while being far away.

As the size of the class grows, teachers will be relying on artificial intelligence, not just for providing feedback but for administrative tasks such as registration. When the repetitive tasks are automated, teachers will be able to focus on teaching in a better way.

While a large portion of the population will have accessed the internet by that time, it is prognosticated that the technology will likely have introduced new devices to store and access data. For instance, virtual clouds will probably replace hard drive storage. Teachers and students will be able to access data from different locations.

The internet service providers will be able to provide high-speed networks at that time. The IoT will be used widely. It enables connecting multiple devices to the internet, making it easier to control numerous things simultaneously.

Students maintain no more diaries as teachers could assign homework online. Students would not need to submit their assignments in person. If a teacher has to give live feedback, they can do it, no matter how far the student is at that time.

Parents will also get instant feedback about the performance of their children. It is easier for teachers to address concerns in detail to help students prepare well for the exams.

As long as internet connectivity becomes accessible, education standards will undoubtedly improve. Parents and students will not mind even taking out legit money loans in Ireland to fund expensive internet plans.

Literature

E-books will likely replace heavy textbooks. Though they are a thing of the past, they will blow out that time. Online study material will generally be popular among remote students. Physical libraries are supposed to exist, but most books will be available in the form of e-books. Remote student subscribers will need them.

The bottom line

The future of education is likely to be changed drastically. By 2050, artificial intelligence might have been introduced to classrooms to help students learn according to their pace and teachers to focus on the progress of each student.

In addition, it is expected that virtual classrooms will be built. In fact, remote students will be able to attend live sessions.
